One Shortcut I love provides an effortless way to batch delete screenshots without manually searching for them in your Photos app—a significant time saver!
To quickly delete screenshots, create a shortcut:
- Launch the Shortcuts app on your iPhone. If it’s not visible, download it from the App Store.
- In the app, select the plus symbol located at the upper right corner.
- In the Actions pane, scroll down and choose “Photos,” then select “Find Photos.”
- Select the Add Filter option, choose Album, and then select Is a Screenshot.
- Next, locate “Delete Photos” in the actions box and choose it.
- Name your shortcut, such as “Delete Screenshots,” and then tap Done in the top right corner.
Once everything is configured, you can use the shortcut at any time to delete all your screenshots. I tend to do this monthly, but how often you need it will depend on how frequently you take screenshots.
Make Sure the Shortcuts App is Authorized for Bulk Deletion
By default, the Shortcuts app on iPhone doesn’t support deleting or sharing content in bulk.
Therefore, attempting to run a shortcut with hundreds or thousands of screenshots can lead to an error—exactly what happened when I first tried it.
Luckily, there’s a simple solution for this. You just need to grant the Shortcut app the required permission to delete content in bulk.
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone, scroll down to find, and tap on Apps.
- Locate “Shortcuts” in the list and select it.
- Select “Advanced” and turn on the option to allow the deletion of large amounts of data.
- (Optional) To bypass the confirmation prompt displayed by the Shortcuts app during deletion, activate Allow Deleting Without Confirmation.
That’s all there is to it! With these settings adjusted, you can now remove all your old screenshots in one tap—effortlessly and without any errors.
